Coach Wells

Director of Athletics and Activities, Southridge High School

Coach Wells serves as the Director of Athletics and Activities at Southridge High School, where he oversees all athletics, activities, performing arts, facilities, and ASB. He also acts as the liaison between Southridge and the Suns Booster Club, ensuring strong community and program support.

Joining Southridge in the summer of 2022, Coach Wells brought extensive experience from his six years at Hermiston High School, where he served as a teacher, Dean of Students, and Discipline Principal. During his time at Hermiston, he also coached football for five seasons and was part of the 2017 OSAA 5A State Championship coaching staff.

Before his time in Hermiston, Coach Wells held head football coaching positions in both Idaho and Oregon and contributed as an assistant coach in baseball, basketball, and youth softball. His coaching career began in 1996 at Freeman Middle School (WA) and has spanned more than two decades, with stops at Hermiston, Buhl (ID), Madras, Central Catholic, Redmond, and Crook County.

Prior to becoming a full-time educator, Coach Wells gained professional experience in the finance industry, retail management, and wholesale sales across several sectors.

A graduate of Central Catholic High School in Portland, Coach Wells was a varsity athlete in both football and baseball. He went on to play college football at Whitworth University, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in Business Management. He later earned a Master’s in Education (2010) and an Administrative Master’s (2020).

Coach Wells has been married to his wife, Sarah, for 30 years. Together, they have three adult daughters and recently welcomed their first grandchild, a grandson born in May.
